Program Goals

¨Students will exceed national academic standards for their respective grade level and will become actively involved in the upliftment and development of the community.  Additionally, students will serve as role models in the areas of health and nutrition.

DESIGN

We recognize that “it takes a village to raise a child” and make an effort to promote an atmosphere of “each one, teach one”.   In designing this course, we were concerned that unlike many other teen projects, this program would emphasize wellness and not limit the student’s focus to dealing with the societal problems such as drug abuse, teen pregnancy and the possibility of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

Therefore, this program is comprised of five major components: an intensive summer holistic fitness boot camp, community service and other and life skills action projects, a mentorship alliance, a mid- year overnight retreat and one year of monthly life skills workshops and wellness courses which will integrate various aspects of holistic wellness such as nutrition, breathing exercises and meditations on various aspects of the “Fruit of the Spirit”.
