Independent, Dynamic, Outstanding Leaders
¨To empower our youth to be self sufficient, positive and productive contributors to our community, particularly in the areas of health and nutrition."
Teen I.D.O.L. Program fosters an environment where students are nurtured physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
ITAV engenders a village of parents, educators, mentors, volunteers and students all working, learning, growing and supporting each other in words, thoughts and deeds. We strive at all times to embody the meaning of the concept of excellence in all areas of human pursuit.
According to W.H.O. the USA is ranked 27th in mathematics and 29th in science compared to the rest of the world.
About 20 percent of teens will experience depression; suicide is the third highest cause of death in US teens.
One in 10 US children is now claimed to have ADHD, over 6 million are medicated
The dropout rate and the rate of incarceration continue to rise each year.
¨Students will exceed national academic standards for their respective grade level and will become actively involved in the upliftment and development of the community. Additionally, students will serve as role models in the areas of health and nutrition.
We recognize that “it takes a village to raise a child” and make an effort to promote an atmosphere of “each one, teach one”. In designing this course, we were concerned that unlike many other teen projects, this program would emphasize wellness and not limit the student’s focus to dealing with the societal problems such as drug abuse, teen pregnancy and the possibility of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
Therefore, this program is comprised of five major components: an intensive summer holistic fitness boot camp, community service and other and life skills action projects, a mentorship alliance, a mid- year overnight retreat and one year of monthly life skills workshops and wellness courses which will integrate various aspects of holistic wellness such as nutrition, breathing exercises and meditations on various aspects of the “Fruit of the Spirit”.
